In most people's cognition, the cryopreservation of the human body is both mysterious and unfamiliar. In 2015, a piece of news that a Chongqing female author had her brain frozen in the Alcor Life Continuation Fund (Alcor) in United States had drew a lot of attention, and this was the first case of human brain cryopreservation in China. Today, Yinfeng Biotechnology Group completed the first case of human body cryopreservation surgery in China, which will mark China as the third country in the world to achieve cryopreservation of the human body after the United States and Russia.

On August 13th, with some media invitations of Science and Technology Daily, China NewNet, Phoenix Net, and Hongxing News, Yinfeng Biotechnology Group held the first human body cryopreservation media meeting in China, more than ten mainstream medias in Shandong Province are initiatively to participate in the meeting, including Dazhong Daily, Life Daily, Qilu Evening News, Jinan Times, Xinhuanet.com, Yidianzixun.com, today's headlines, China's Shandong Net, Shandong net, Sina Shandong, and Phoenix. Sheng Dewei, Chairman of Yinfeng Biotechnology Group, and Pang Yong, Acting President, Jia Chunsheng vice president of the Yinfeng Life Science Research Institute, and some medical experts in Qilu Hospital of Shandong University and Shandong Yinfeng Life Science Research Institute who had participated in this human body cryopreservation operation attend the media meeting.

The cryopreservation of the human body refers to the preservation of the human body in a low-temperature environment of minus 190 degrees Celsius, in order to look forward to the future development of science and technology and achieve “resurrection”. At the media meeting, Aaron Drake said: Some people think that today's medical technology can not cure their own terminal illness, but relying on the current preservation technology, maybe in future, when medical technology developed to a certain extent, it can be cured. For example, 100 years ago, if someone had a heart injury, we could only watch him die. Today, people can recover by surgery after a heart attack. So we can also imagine that cancer will be cured in the future. The cryopreservation of the human body has become a way for people to wait until the cancer can be cured.

It is understood that the application for the cryogenic preservation of the human body is a 49-year-old female named Zhan who suffers from lung cancer. Before her death, she was keen on public welfare and caring volunteer in Quancheng. She had repeatedly expressed to her family members that she would like to donate her dead body for scientific research. During the treatment in comfort ward, her family completed her body donation registration process and participated in this great and loving life-continuing research program: Cryopreservation for herself and hope for future medical science miracles. At 4:01 a.m. on May 8, 2017, Ms. Zhan, 49-year-old, stopped her heartbeat and breathing in bed and her cryopreservation surgery began. On the evening of May 10th, Ms. Zhan’s body was successfully transferred to a special liquid nitrogen container that was filled with liquid nitrogen and could be maintained at minus 196°C. The operation was completed successfully. The completion of this operation is not only the realization of her love and dedication, but also a hope for her family.

In 2013, Yinfeng Biotechnology Group launched a study plan on cryogenic preservation and resuscitation of human tissues and organs, and established the Shandong Yinfeng Life Science Research Institute and Shandong Yinfeng Life Science Charity Foundation to carry out research in field of cryogenic medicine like cryopreservation for organs, tissues and human body, resuscitation and organs function maintenance, a team of experts including international experts in cryogenic biology, cryogenic medicine, and clinical medicine has been established. It has successfully achieved the cryogenic preservation, resuscitation, and clinical application of various human cells, and for valves, skins, severed fingers (toes) ovarian tissue and other large-sized organs, breakthrough have also been achieved. At present, there are five cryopreservation centers in the world, and Yinfeng Cryogenic Medical Research Center is the first in Asia.

Yinfeng Life Sciences Research Institute and Qilu Hospital of Shandong University jointly initiated cryopreservation study of donated bodies and conducted multi-modal body sample preservation to promote the body donation in Shandong Province and even the whole country, which provided research samples, methods and data for clinical, teaching and scientific research; at the same time, using the latest cryogenic medical technology to explore ways to reduce the mechanism of hypoxia-ischemia injury in tissues and organs donated, to realize the cryogenic preservation and resuscitation of human tissues and organs, and prolong the timeliness of donated tissues and organs in vivo and in vitro, and seek new technological routes for Chinese organ donation, transplantation and medical development.

The successful completion of the cryopreservation of the human body was a breakthrough in the biomedical technology for the Yinfeng Biotechnology Group. However, for the development of cryogenic medicine in China, it indicates that the cryogenic medical research field in China has reached a global leading position. The preponderance of our position has captured the high ground of biomedical science and technology innovation for China.
