In order to promote the innovation cooperation between Shandong and Britain in the field of life science, jointly held by Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Province, Shandong provincial science and Technology Department, British Embassy in China and General Administration of the UK Trade and Investment, co-organized by Economic and Information Commission of Shandong Province and Health and Family Planning Commission of Shandong Province, “Dialogue of Shandong-UK for Innovation Cooperation of Life Science” was taken place on August 22, 2016 in Ji’nan, Shandong Province. As the only invited company in the field of stem cells, Shandong Qilu Stem Cell Co. Ltd. participated in the dialogue and made presentations on stem cell related applications and medical development. Gene therapy, stem cell regenerative medicine and the application of new materials in the field of medicine has become the focus of attention of Shandong and British pharmaceutical companies.

Kevin Holland, Minister Counselor of British Embassy in China and General Administration of the UK Trade and Investment said on the conference that, the UK possessed strong universities network, the world's top three innovation ability and many of the world's most advanced technology research and development center and the UK was willing to cooperate with Shandong and with China in biomedicine, life sciences and other aspects. As a director of life sciences, health care and social security, Kevin Holland believed that applications of stem cell regenerative medicine, gene therapy, precision therapy, big data technology and others in the field of medicine would be the focus of cooperation between Shandong and the UK in the next ten years.

At present, China has entered the aging society when medical demand is growing rapidly, thus it has new and higher requirements about the future development of life sciences and bio pharmaceutical industry. Deputy Director of Shandong provincial science and Technology Department Yu Shuliang said that he hope Chinese side could take this innovative dialogue as an opportunity to strengthen communication with the UK in the field of life science innovation, and to expand cooperation in joint research and development, results transformation, platform contact and personnel training.

In the conference, Liu Xiaodun, deputy director of research and Development Department of Qilu Stem Cell Co. Ltd. introduced the main business scope and scientific research strength of Shandong Qilu Stem Cell Co. Ltd, and he also discussed about the clinical application and future prospect of stem cells. After that, Qilu Stem Cell Co. Ltd. and 19 biomedical related departments and enterprises from Shandong Province and British Enterprises introduced their companies and made one to one cooperation conversation.

Shandong province is a major economical and medical province of China, who focuses on the development of raw medical materials, innovative drugs, vaccines and diagnostic reagents, modern Chinese medicine, marine drugs and new medical devices. As of 2015, there were 832 Shandong bio pharmaceutical enterprises with more than 400 billion Yuan sales revenue in pharmaceutical industry, ranking the top one in China.
